I am just perplexed and disappointed that so many FReepers, JimRob included are so duped by Trump.

We have a proven rock-solid Conservative Constitutional Originalist "Outsider" to rally behind in Ted Cruz... Yet, about 30% of FR are apparently braindead Reality Television watchers that are being swindled and caught up in the Hopey Changey; Mmm, Mmm, Mmm Donald John Trump; Yes we can! Yes we can! Styrofoam Pillars, of this whole Trump sideshow.

I can't even bother pointing out Kelo, all the political donations to Dems, the Cronyist tactics of how DJT made all his money, and just the fact that he's pretty much a bully and a tyrant... they just don't want to hear any of it, and will shout down anything truthful about any candidate.

To your point, however, I have a feeling that things must not be "bad enough" if Trump is being considered as the solution. The way this will play out is that either Rubio will win, and we will basically get GOPe big government... or some Socialist Democrat... because, obviously, people do not see the value here (well, 30% of them, at least) in directly returning things to the way the founding fathers intended in the U.S. Constitution.

I am left thinking it needs to get a LOT worse before it will ever get better.

Don't give up yet. The polls are misleading.

When first and second choices are combined, Cruz only trails Trump by 4 pts. nationally, and he's winning in IA.

The gap will close as candidates drop out. And Cruz wins every time he stands next to Trump in the debates, which is every debate from here on out.

” because, obviously, people do not see the value here (well, 30% of them, at least) in directly returning things to the way the founding fathers intended in the U.S. Constitution.”

You are delusional. Ted Cruz is NOT going to turn America into a Christian Revival Tent, overturn LGBT, restore free speech, restore the gun rights that have been lost OR restore things to the way the founding fathers intended. He’s not going to because We The People let that America die a long time ago. Of course we on FR would want it back. But we’ve been in the trenches, so to speak, and have had those hopes too only to have them thrown back in our faces by just the same manner of politician that Cruz seems to be. Donald Trump has been out here with us, not in the fuzzy muzzy world of Washington. I really can’t tell where you’ve been. To have such unrealistic daydreams at this point in time, you must have been in a musty attic somewhere with a bunch of relics.

This nation is on the brink of destruction. We don’t have time for Ted Cruz’s dances with the wolves in Washington. We don’t have time for polite discourse. We don’t have time for waiting our turn to speak and all that Emily Post etiquette that was wonderful in its time but will now get us dead, dead, dead!

As we speak, an enemy army is being established in strategic places all over this nation. There are, most likely, many of them very close to all of us. Rest assured, they don’t know squat about our Constitution, Christianity, free speech or what constitutes polite discourse. All they care about is taking us out so they can install their own society. Oceans no longer separate us from our dire enemies. They’re all around us. There’s one in the Whitehouse and minions in our Justice Department. Just what do you think a run of the mill politician is going to do in the face of all that?

Donald Trump is trying to assemble the only army that is going to have any effect at all against the forces that we’re facing, and that army is the everyday, common, law abiding, hard working, home loving, family oriented slogger that makes this nation run; the ones that can laugh at a hugely funny comeback when they see one. Politics used to be like that when the founding fathers and real free speech were alive.

Once upon a time, people who were “perplexed and disappointed” in a person or groups of people went away from them and found a person or group that pleased them. There’s a world wide web full of Cruz supporters that spout Cruzisms, tear up and curtsey to your heart’s content.

Jim gives us a place to air our views but don’t forget it’s his site. He might get a little disappointed with you too. Lighten up.
