HOW would it “deter conservative independents and cross-over conservative Dems from voting for Cruz” if it won’t deter them from coming over to vote for Trump?
I think if you asked the Trump voters, the plurality of them would say Cruz is their next choice. So if Trump were to withdraw, somehow voters who would sign theis pledge to vote for him WOULD’NT sign it to vote in teh same primary for Cruz?
I don’t get the logic of that.
It *would* deter them from voting for Trump.
It would hurt both candidates.
A scrupulous person has qualms about promising they would support the winner even if it’s the likes of Jeb.
Of course it’s not enforceable but scruples are scruples.
