Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is expected to endorse Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for president when he campaigns with him in Iowa next week, Townhall.com reported Saturday.
The influential South Carolina lawmaker will attend town hall rallies on Tuesday and Wednesday during Rubio’s three-day tour through the important caucus state, the Rubio campaign said in a press release Saturday.
"Marco is a rock solid conservative and a strong leader we can trust,†Gowdy said in an accompanying statement. “I look forward to campaigning in Iowa with him, and introducing my good friend to voters across the state."
A Rubio campaign aide told CNN that Gowdy will offer Rubio his "full support," but stopped short of saying it will be an official endorsement for president.
Gowdy will make appearances at town halls in Clinton, Sioux City, Pella, North Newton and Boone.
The three term representative is best known for leading the House investigation into the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack, in which he presided over testimony from former secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Gowdy introduced Rubio at several events in his early-voting home state last weekend.

Trump or Cruz should just move the staff at Judicial Watch, lock, stock and barrel to take over DOJ and actually restore Justice in the US.
He’s an 80% on the Heritage scoreboard. Not great, but better than many. With better leadership (Paul/McConnell), guys like him can be persuaded to clean up their act. We’re not gonna replace every Republican who is around 80% conservative. His biggest weakness seems to be spending money, so he’s likely trading votes for pork. I catch your reference to the Borg. Any man that puts Marco (Rubio) and "we can trust" in the same sentence has definitely been 'assimilated' by the Washington Cartel. This is really disturbing. Gowdy is throwing away his integrity in the eyes of knowledgeable SC voters.

Last I know of is from Oct on the Hannity show. Said he was disappointed that Gowdy pivoted away from Hillary after McCarthy stuck his foot in his mouth.

His Amnesty would turn over the entirety of the government permanently to the Democrats. It does not matter what are the beliefs one holds if one also means to do Amnesty. Amnesty trumps everything else because if it happens everything conservative simply is irrelevant.
