This may be, and it may even be superior in some ways to free trade.

But I’ve certainly seen as many claims that said the nation succeeded and grew economically IN SPITE OF protectionist policies, or that perhaps better put it’s hard to say that protectionism was WHY we grew.

What I think IS pretty well known is that by the time we got to the 20th Century and Smoot-Hawley, we got into global tariff wars that was acknowledged as A factor as an extended and more severe Great Depression.

At any rate, the reality is I don’t see us going down that road today. I just don’t. I mean we’re too intertwined globally.

Again, I always preface this by saying as a bible believing social conservative, which I guess most here PROBABLY are, but I’m sure I’m in a minority at this point, PART of me says bring on globalization or a “new world order/government” for this reason and this reason only. I mean, I again preface this by saying I don’t really want to see the country lost. But from a biblical perspective, I believe man will indeed put together a global government system. But it’s only going to come about because God allows it. It’s not going to last for really much of any period of time whatsoever. And whenever it does come onto the scene, I believe we know that the return of Christ is practically just around the corner. I mean, whatever they put together, it’s not going to amount to a tinker’s darn, so to speak. Granted, it’s as antiamerican as can be, it’s as foreboding as can be in the sense that it will be an evil time and it’s a reminder to be in good standing or to get in good standing with God. But it WILL happen, I believe it’s written. It WILL fail in a relatively short amount of time. And anyone who believes in a socialist, “government is God” philosophy and that Antichrist is their will be in for a rude awakening.

I’m realizing myself that I’m getting tired of sitting here dreading it, or even hating these people, or fearing it. Let it come. Let them bring it. They’re going to fail. They’re going to fail hard. For those who do believe in Christ, our only job is to be aware of the season we’re in and to inform others
