Demography is destiny. The Reps have lost the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 elections. Non-Hispanic whites, the base of the GOP, are declining in numbers and the Dems are increasing. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will minorities. Each cohort that turns 18 annually will be more Dem than the previous one.

In 1970 one in 21 was foreign born; today, it is less than one in 8, the highest in 105 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. 87% of the 1.1 million legal immigrants we take in annually are minorities as classified by the USG. Immigrants and minorities vote Dem by more than two to one.
