The error of the article is that there are no “good” Muslims. There are terrorist Muslims and passive Muslims. The passive refuse to stop the terrorist. Read the book, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. The author talks about passive Muslim ignorance of their own scriptures and Haddiths.
I agree, and we in the West have learned, first they come for the other group(s)and if you don’t speak up, they will come for you. This is something the good Muslims have not internalized. They don’t know it as well as we do.
They must see the evil. They have to see that it is coming from their Muslim brethren. If they don’t speak up against it, they can’t be considered actually good, and they are not going to be spared.
I hope they start.
I do now see how they can read the same book and take the best interpretations, when it is written with euphemisms already included, like jihad being for warring with your own sins as well as being for self defense even against a quiet, peaceful “other” in case they one day aren’t.
Your analysis is reasonable, but US leadership since Shrub (I don't care what Slick thinks) has emphasized what you're pointing out, except that they're 180o out in their conclusion.
They want to defend and isolate moderate Moslems whom they hold up as exemplars, and separate them from the mayhem.
Firewalling as many as possible of the 1.2, now 1.4 billion Moslems off from the jihadis and truncating the reach of the madrassas and radical muftis will greatly reduce the size and cost of our war against the radicals. That's the theory, at any rate.
Comes now the strong suggestion that state actors are involved in radicalization and militarization of the Moslem hordes, which changes the game considerably and introduces a quantum increase in the danger. It will require us to get really serious, if our former allies in Turkey and Saudi have turned their hands against us. Some spectacular defeat of the Fuzzy Wuzzies, radicals, dervishes, whatever, in the field, with destruction of their field forces, is required to drive the Moslem leadership back to pacifism.
So, how else does a “moderate” moslem otherwise interpret items 1 thru 18?
I don't think so.
The coran commands violence, rape, torture and slavery throughout its text. It is so filled with wickedness and hatred, there is no goodness in it.
Exactly! If she hates terrorists she’s the one that’s not really a Muslim.
ISIS is the doing the exact same thing as Moo-Ham-Head and his original bunch, just with automatic weapons to augment their decapitation swords.
