Hollywood and the media gave up on inspiring, uplifting, educating and promoting the good in humanity a long time ago. They are now in the business of appealing to every low, degrading, animalistic instinct that can be imagined and portraying it all as something normal to humankind.

In answer to your question, yes; movies reflect the culture in which they’re created and also can influence it to some degree. Movies, media and the ever degrading sense of responsibility to society by those who create the material have brought us to an astounding low in the quality of entertainment. About the only thing left to satisfy and feed the lust for sensational sensory porn is snuff films. I think they can’t be far off.
