A decade or so ago, a local Publix grocery store ran a fried chicken special on Martin Luther King's birthday.

The uproar from the self-proclaimed leaders of the Black community was predictable.

Pardon my ignorance that is not hard for me to display, but what exactly is a black eyed pea. Is that a southern thing?
