Well, one can look at statistical evidence and combine it with personal knowledge. So , there are a few million moslems in the US, and over time, there have been some dozens of terrorist crimes.

So, statiscally, most moslems in the US don’t commit terrorist crimes.

But how does one know the one in a thousand who will commit heinous acts vs the 999 who wont?

Experience and judgment. The fellow who works for me who was a tenured college professor, why did he flee his homeland, and leave behind a relatively good paying, high prestige job? I asked him this. He answered. I have three daughters who are not yet grown. And I didn’t want to be coerced by the religious authorities to have them mutilated when they came of age.

Do you think he’s particularly interested in following the dictates of religious authorities when they preach what goes against the law written on all men’s hearts?

Or the fellow who has me over for a cookout, and when I catch him eating a bacon cheeseburger, and point out he is a moslem, he laughs, and says,I’m moslem, when I want to be. Do you figure he’s going to risk death like the San Bernadino murderers? His wife and children wear western clothes, he invites his infidel co-workers and boss to events, he eats and serves food that is haram, and allows his wife to expose herself to other men, to INFIDELS, he is more interested in accumulating wealth through rental real estate than virgins through killing infidels. Maybe, the odds are low that he will commit a terrorist act? Especially as he was a victim of a terrorist a ct, where he and his fellow moslems were harmed by terrorists?

I could go on. A few moslems in the US will act to kill us. Most won’t.

If I had a moslem working for me who requested 5 prayer breaks per day, who kept his Pakistani born wife from view, who argued with other employees from a radical point of view, I might be concerned, but I never did. My moslem employees were more interested in chasing the American dream than heavenly virgins. And the various moslem businessmen with whom I have worked showed similar attributes.

I must use my reason to estimate risk.

So the hypothetical Pakistani was a good Muslim? And therein lies the rub.

I am sure some of these nominal Muslims you know personally are still “Muslim” only because of the very real threat of violence from their more orthodox co-religionists. See the polling data I posted earlier on this subject, looking for the numbers regarding punishment for apostasy. It isn’t pretty.

The problem is that I can’t tell who is truly a MINO, and who might become a true believer. As I like to say, if it’s such a peaceful and friendly religion, why aren’t the extremists extremely peaceful and friendly. Unfortunately, the extremists act like Mohammed, and no reformation is going to fix that fundamental problem.

Meanwhile, extremist Christians go proselytize and build schools and wells in Africa and Central America. And try to emulate Christ, love their fellow man, etc.

Yes there are moderate Muslims. But there is no moderate Islam, and I have no way of knowing when someone in the belief system might leave MINO / moderate status and act on what the founder encouraged his followers to do.

There’s no way to tell them apart, and there’s no valid reason to be a moslem and want to be a US citizen. They need to completely repudiate the murderous cult and embrace American values.

You should have introduced them to a preacher.
