I have studied islam formally and likely forgotten more than you’ve known.
I don’t relay second hand anecdotes. I have known, worked, employed, and played with moslems. I have little use for their false, satanic religion, but actual people I have met are just that, actual people. Who are not murderers. Who are not rapists.
Many moslems sympathize with the most extreme elements of islam. In my view, a large majority. But not even all of them are murderers or rapists. But there are a lot of moslems, and even if we say that but 10% are “moderate,” that’s a hundred million who don’t intrinsically want to cut our heads off.
One must account for them.

Well there you have it. Close enough. Don't expect any help from your muzzie-buddies in a terrorist attack, they're probably helping build the pipe bombs in their garage.
They may not be murderers, but it is still at root an evil belief system. And whitewashing evil is something we should not do, nor excuse, just because it is easier than confronting it.

And how does one identify the ones who are safe and those who wish to cut your head off?
Too high of a percentage support the radical element for my comfort. Until and unless the non-radical ones speak up and condemn the radical element and actively do something to stop them, then they must be suspect.
There's simply no other option when it comes to protecting your life and well being.
