One single act is not responsible for the Arab spring. It was just a pretext for the rioting to begin. She was the trigger, you might say. The whole Mideast was poised to explode with carefully organized agitation by Islamic radicals who were likely coordinating with leftists in the West.

Mahmood is a variation on Mohammed. The actual spelling in transliterated Arabic is MHMD. The vowels are variable with different accents and languages.

Looks like the Arab Spring might have been hijacked by extremists just like the Russian revolution was.

You won’t see any such admissions from Obama, Hillary, VJ, and the rest of the sociopaths in the administration that conspired with the MB to foment the rebellions for their own personal and political gain.

I didn’t either.

OTOH, I suppose we shouldn’t feel too bad. 99% of the obama voters didn’t know his middle name was Hussein, until the networks announced his full name as soon as the election results were in.

I guess they just couldn’t resist gloating at putting one over on the American people...

She was a council-member in Tunisia. And she is right, she struck the spark that led to the beginnings of the Arab Spring.

She took away a man’s livelihood, under the law, that is true. The man had no other way to live. His family would starve. Everything he had worked for was stripped away by a bureaucratic rule and she was the official that enforced it on him.

He set himself on fire in protest of a government that can take away a person’s ability to care for his family.

When a society, a government, a system of tyranny creates a large population that is under immense pressure just to feed themselves, a simple spark can cause an explosion.

She is right. She caused the spark. She was part of the problem. But the entire system is what caused the tyrannies in the Middle-East to explode one after another. The system called Islam.
