Hey Officer Porter— Merry Christmas sir... enjoy it with your family as it should be.
Machines have been around for a long time. For example a loom can get hung up, as could a plow.
For those interested in the etymology of the phrase:

“Hung Jury.” I saw that movie, they weren’t kidding.
Oh please let the Ravens play Sunday in an empty stadium
He is black he is saved but White officer will have problem with jury.

This column by Adam Freedman discusses the phrase:
The Oxford English Dictionary lists the first printed reference to a hung jury in Edwin Bryantâs What I Saw in California (1848-49) in which he states: âThe jury . . . were what is called âhungâ; they could not agree . . .â
Bryantâs phrasing obviously suggests that the phrase was already in common use by the late 1840âs. ... The earliest use of the term in a law report appears in an 1821 case, Evans v. McKinsey. ... it appears that the term developed somewhere in the south during the early 19th Century.
Linguistically, the phrase seems to derive from the sense of âhungâ to mean caught, suspended or delayed (âI got hung up at the officeâ).
Thanks for posting that - that this was the easiest win. I am so relieved. They should run Mosby out of town on a rail.
Charm City on fire yet?
Many years ago during the Massachusetts witch trials a jury came back with a not guilty verdict. The judge told the jury that he found the jury’s conclusion suspicious and maybe they were all witches too. The jury then decided to find the defendant guilty.
Freddie Gray killed himself!!! The Baltimore Police has nothing to do with this worthless piece of humanity!!! This Black Police officer charged, should sue the city of Baltimore for millions of dollars...and the five other policemen with charges, should do exactly the same!!! Obama has screwed the African-American community big time...and the fools are too blinded by hate from their leaders (Obama, Sharpton, The CBC, the NAACP, the Democrat Party, etc.) to see it!!! SAD!!!
half were looking at the facts and the other half were looking at the Rope holding Mob outside
That makes more sense. Usage of hung as in “caught on”, which then became “delayed”. Not having to do with machines. By the way, for the earlier comment, a plough being tugged by a ox is not a machine.
HUNG JURY = DEFENSE TEAM VICTORY (& also partial victory for justice—complete victory for justice would be innocent verdict or case dismissed)
This guy has a point. Easier to shoot the guy long before he robs a store. It might save a store owners life too.
That sounds suspiciously like a myth about the origin of the term.
I believe the correct grammar is 'hanged'.
Those who want “street justice” should consider that one day they might end up on the losing end of it.
If you can’t even get a misconduct or reckless engangerment charge, they’ve got nothing.
