Actually, it seems like the assignment was a printout and it told the students that it was the Islamic statement of faith. They just weren’t given the translation, in that case.

So this was supposed to be a purely “artistic” assignment, but it’s not art class. It’s geography class. And apparently the image posted on a couple sites shows the assignment, and it comes from a textbook, apparently then a geography text book. So this might be an assignment that many students in other schools are doing too. It would not be the creation of the teacher then, but created by an actual textbook company.
