In 1919 Kipling wrote a poem. The Gods of the Copybook Headings. The Copybook was a handwriting lesson that also contained a moral message.

I have also seen some of those copybooks.
BTW, my Mom(RIP) had the most gorgeous handwriting I have ever seen.
