What makes me sad is that I'm an old time Freeper. I would have expected most of the throw Cruz under the bus crowd to be newbies. But that isn't true. I guess they got it in their heads that only Trump could win and can't let go of that belief. They have even taken to attacking Cruz instead of just supporting the lib.
And yes I am attacking Trump but I have never believed nor ever will believe he is a true conservative.
Well I’ve been informed that conservatism is all about nationalism and the constitution is about collecting tariffs.

Too many believe the fantasy that Progressivism is about the left but it never was. Teddy Roosevelt was a right leaning progressive who was tough on border control but supported eugenics, seized public lands by the millions of acres and punished businesses that didn’t jump through his hoops.
The day a FReeper told me that they look forward to being able to deport me was the day I knew the neo progressive nationalists had arrived.
Sadly, there is another possibility. It's one that makes sense, but is very difficult to face (Norm has slammed it into this thick head, and I suspect that he's right). And that is that some of them want the liberal approach. They aren't just voting "against," though they say they are. They are also voting for a direction in which they feel safe, as long as they perceive their guy, their team, in charge. Nationalized health care will be better under Republicans than Democrats. Forced accommodation of open homosexuality will do better under Republicans. We'll do a better job of installing government because we're Republicans, you see, and they vote for that.
Some people really want the moderate-left GOP Romney type. They swear up and down he's conservative. It's perplexing.
