Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show that Donald Trumpâs attack on Ted Cruz over the weekend, calling him a âmaniacâ given the way heâs dealt with McConnell and others in the Senate, is not an attack a genuine conservative would make and it has raised a red flag for him: While I would certainly vote for Trump if he were the nominee, Iâve never thought he was a genuine conservative. But I do think heâs tried in some ways to bridge his positions with conservatism and I think he generally leans in that direction.
At the end of the day though, if he becomes president, I expect a lot of compromise with Congress, especially on his more conservative positions â and I know that going into the voting booth. If you expect something different you might be in for a big surprise.
This is also why I support Ted Cruz. I do expect him to compromise with Congress as well, as he has said as much, but I donât believe he will go so far as to compromise his principles.

Hmmmm. Now where did I hear THAT just this morning.
Yup......I do recall....
Makes perfect sense to me. I’ve been saying for months that his liberal inner feelings and so on would come out. To deny they are part of him is to deny most of the past 50 years of his life.
Trump has a lot of red flags that should concern the Conservative voter.
I think we need to elect him anyway.
yeah, does kinda ring a bell don’t it?
So we are to believe that Trump doesn’t have equally candid remarks regarding his opponents. Doesn’t matter that Cruz’s comments were before potential donors because Trump would take their money even if they offered it (or so he says).
Ted Cruz is implied by your list but not actually on there. Thomas Sowell should be on there. Steve King and Steve Deace. James Dobson. You can also add long time Freepers who have been nothing but conservative.
Rush wasn't criticizing Trump for going negative against Cruz. It was the issue. Trump was criticizing Cruz for not playing ball with the Senate leaders.
He can certainly read....
Re: Cruz....give them a chance. They haven’t fully damned him as not conservative yet....but i’m sure it’s coming.
But yes, these are just the names over the last couple of months that I can remember as having been labelled by the local Trumpeter swans as “evil and NOT CONSERVATIVE” (I should trademark that, and yes you have to say it like that!)
Rest assured, this is no coincidence.
Trying to explain “why” to Cringer is just a waste of time. He/she doesn’t think in terms of why.....
Politics aint beanbag. They’re going to have to take the gloves off sooner or later. Looks like Cruz came out testing his left jab first. And drew back a stump. He’s gone back to his corner now to think it over.
That’s great because we really want moderates to choose our candidate again.
Absolutely right. I’ve got a friend who lurks here often. He texted me the other day with this: “WTF is wrong with Free Republic? I thought it was a conservative website and all I keep seeing are Trump lunatics!”
I’m all for this. Trump is exposing himself and Cruz will win this fight.
He can hear and read. But he misses out a lot of stuff. He will only watch videos if there is closed caption, etc.
Well said. Mess with the bull...
I’m glad Rush finally said something. It’s been long due.
Was Rush dissapointed Cruz used the nuclear button argument that the left likes to use? The left did that against Reagan and Goldwater as well. Apparently Rush wasn’t even aware there was audio of this.
