In MO a California accent or Maine accent will sound foreign.
How do they know they were immigrants? Are they checking passports at Walmart now?

Many States have County #s as part of the Plate ID.
Back in the day, one would get WAY much greater scrutiny from the undertasked local popos should one slowly troll down Main Street after dark while driving out of County .

I don’t know a lot about accents but I’m pretty sure I can tell the difference from middle east and different American accents.

Lebanon MO is white bread America. Other than a few foreign military attending school at Fort Lost-in-the-woods, there aren’t any. They stick out in a small town.
