Tel Aviv Diary: Putin Gives Israel Green Light to Pound Hezbollah
By Marc Schulman 12/4/15 at 3:46 PM
In the meantime, it would seem that Israelâs close relationship with Russia and especially with its leader, Vladimir Putin, has been bearing fruit. Reports from Syria that Israel struck targets there on December 3âeither once or twiceâconfirms the fact that Russia has given Israel a green light to continue to attack Hezbollah, Russiaâs ally in its fight in Syria.

I don’t believe it. Unless Hezbollah is a pawn to be taken as Syria occupies Lebanon. The Israelis up the door for Syria. That expands the Shiite Caliphate.
This is so sad, that a freakin’ Russkie, and a former KGB guy, is doing and saying more of the right things than our own president. Never thought I’d see the day.
Curiouser and Curiouser.
Hmmmm.
RE: Putin Gives Israel Green Light to Pound Hezbollah
Why does Israel need anyone’s green light to defend herself?
He’s even offering to supply them with Hezbazookas ...
To say that I am confused is to make an understatement.
Russia supports Assad, who is also being supported by Iran, both countries being major supporters of Hezbollah.
Now Russia says it supports Israel pounding Hezbollah?
I’m missing something somewhere...
Russia has no troops on the ground in Syria, and as they intend to take full control over the country they deem Iran’s Hezbollah, with thousands of Iranian troops as a rival force. So, the sooner they are dead the sooner Russia is in charge in Syria.
middle east realpolitik a la allenby/kissinger (et al)?
Our POTUS is reluctant to kill another muslim.
Why would he give an islamist pig-dog a ride?
Worst President Ever!
I’m beginning to think it would take M. C. Escher to plot this all out.
Well said. Putin is playing a double-game with the Iranians. Putin wants to control Syria, but he can only do that through Assad. He needs Assad to owe him. Not Iran.
So Putin supports Assad.
Assad is getting in-theater combat support from Hezbollah, Iranian operatives.
Putin is working all kinds of coordinated strategic initiatives with Iran.
And Putin supports Israel’s efforts against Hezbollah.
Confused yet? The whole region is a tangle of fish line.
Not only are Russia and Assad being supported by Iran, but Hezbollah is in Syria supporting Iran.
So, yes, I think something's missing here, too.
So, so true.
