Oh, yes. I was in your corner. As a big Bush supporter, even taking to the streets during the recount, the disappointment in his presidency was hard to handle. The spending—oy! Irag—oy! Although I admit I was slow to figure he was letting us down.
Wow. You said it. I loved and had faith in Dubya, and he came close to downright betrayal. In his way, Dubya was the last straw for me.
I am also floored at how many people who should know better are enamored of Trump. Maybe it's because I haven't participated in television for the vast majority of my adult life, and I'm sneakin' up on 60. People whose lives are daily nourished with TV culture I guess totally accept Trump as he has been marketed in terms of skills, specialties, and talents. They think I'm crazy for pointing out he's only famous because he pursued celebrityhood.
From their many long years of TV anchorage as a frame of reference, they think he's famous because he is so "good" at what he does, and his brand image on TV is of a brilliant businessman and communicator, persuader, negotiator, a pop figure that articulates the anger and frustration of people in impatient language, that of course he's the logical choice for President!
And I am standing with my jaw dropped in ... dismay.
People supposedly wary of the MSM are not even aware of the ways in which it controls them. I truly urge every person in America, just try an experiment, and go without TV for one year. For entertainment, read a book or watch a movie. Yes, it can be done, and the doer will still be alive at the end of it. For me, Trump is just evidence of the sheer power of TV.
Oh well. I count my blessings (they are legion) and know the Lord is in charge!
