Bernie Sanders aside, I doubt any candidate wants to be compared to Jimmy Carter. I'd go with FDR, he stuck it to all kinds of people, including citizens. That said, Trump's approach to the problem could have been a bit more diplomatic. As the article notes, previous bans have been on geographic origin or hostile ideology. A halt until we've sorted these things out would make a great deal of sense.
Oh but Carter was one of them— a Democrat— who had helped depose the shah of Iran freeing the Muslim to wage Terrorist Jihad.
