Donald Trump Wants Bill Gates to 'Close That Internet Up'
Fortune ^ | December 8, 2015 | Robert Hackett

At a campaign rally aboard the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C., Trump suggested that Microsoft founder Bill Gates, could possibly help censor parts of the online world. “We’re losing a lot of people because of the Internet,” Trump said. “We have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what’s happening. We have to talk to them about, maybe in certain areas, closing that Internet up in some way.”

“Somebody will say, ‘Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech,'” he added, dismissing the objection with an arm wave. “These are foolish people.”

One thing I hope would not be a problem with Trump is that he will expand the war of Islam and sacrifice more of the constitution.

If the government ever gets the power to end “hate speech” on the Internet, someone like Trump will never run for President again. I don’t know that he understands that the government targets politically incorrect Americans with it’s power...not terrorists.

If he won and did this, he would not be able to protect Americans from what he unleashed in, future, uniparty power. Cruz understands all this.

Calling for censorship?

The government shuts down sites for copyright violations, so maybe shutting down sites or accounts for promoting terrorism and recruiting jihadis wouldn't be too damaging to free speech.

Never mind, 23:30.

Yeah, that was a STUPID thing for him to say. I get the point, but it's badly put.

"...we're losing a lot of people because of the Internet. And we have to do something, we have to see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening, we have to talk to them, maybe in certain areas closing the Internet up in some way. Somebody will say [mockingly, waving arms & head] 'oh, freedom of speech, freedom of speech'. These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people. We've got to maybe do something with the Internet because they are recruiting by the thousands, they're leaving our country, and then they come back, we take 'em back, 'welcome back, where were you?' 'I was fighting for ISIS' 'Oh welcome back, go home, enjoy yourself'".

The Left is going to really run with this one. It's the quote they've been looking for.

“If that “backfire” leads to a shutdown of any controversial websites (perhaps even this one), would you still support it?”

Would you support the Nazis running newspapers and radio stations in America during WW II? How about Nazi parades down 5th Avenue to celebrate Hitler’s birthday. Even FDR wasn’t that stupid. Why can’t liberals see the parallels?

I view them both as potential projectiles and/ or explosives and possibly corrosive and biological agents.

Ok, then you do want the TSA to interrogate grandmas and infants. We could put up Muslim detection booths on all the highways and bridges.

No need to detect that which is no longer here.

Time to get rid of the muslim terrorists among us.
