You beat me to it. Ted is trying to have it both ways and what he has done is allow Trump to move to the right of him on this issue. I think this is going to register in the upcoming polls and not in a good way for Ted.
Have you considered what many people believe that there is a tactical alliance between Ted and Donald? Ted is a young guy with a long political future. This is Trump’s last shot in politics. Trump is a street fighter who is going to clean up the mess and leave Teddy a nice tidy American political landscape .
