Are the tides finally turning? Has Donald Trump, who just today suggested that we should ban all travel to America by Muslims (a tough thing to enact when you think about it), been bested in a primary state?
According to Monmouth University, polling on the Republican Presidential race in Iowa, Ted Cruz has overtaken the Donald by five points, besting Trump by five points among likely caucus voters.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has overtaken businessman Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination in Iowa, a new poll from Monmouth University shows.
Cruz gets 24 percent support among likely Republican caucus goers, a significant lead over Trump's 19 percent. His fellow senator Marco Rubio of Florida comes in third with 17 percent support, and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson nets 13 percent support.
CNN is reporting a closer result, with Trump and Cruz running neck-and-neck, with the former leading slightly, though in the margin of error.

Oh my, Cruz is the Iowa flavor of the week.
I’m sure the GOPe thinks it would be easier to knock Cruz down to pave the way for Yeb.
A Monmouth University survey released on Monday found Carson taking 32 percent support in Iowa, followed by Trump at 18 percent.

Iowa is hardly representative, but contrats to Ted if this is true.
:D
"How stupid are the people of Iowa?"
The problem with this poll is that it got Trumped real bad by the CNN poll. This poll only measured people who went to caucus 4 years ago. CNN measured likely to go this year. Trump is at 33% leading as usual.
Today’s CNN Iowa poll has it at 13, not 20, but nonetheless it is very different from Monmouth’s.
Ooooooooooooooops...yes, it is;sorry.
It’s Trump 33 Cruz 20 and my hands typed fastewr than my brain thought.
Responding to Trump today, Teddy said, ‘’Its not my policy’’. oh brother.
A tough thing to enact, indeed.
Done before his comments today which will undoubted shoot his support upward.
I expect Cruz to win Iowa.
The media will be bleating about “the end of Trump” for eight whole days - until he blows the doors off in NH.
Trump will win SC outright, do well in Texas, win Florida and it will be over by March 15.
Always entertaining to see how many don’t even bother to read the excerpt.
Monmouth is notoriously bad. CNN has Trump by a very wide margin. I give no credence to any polls in this day and age except to polls showing a candidate slipping from double digits into low single digits; there is validity in a tail-spin.
Cruz and Trump supporters must be wary of the media games to divide and conquer. The supporters of these candidates must not allow themselves to be manipulated and turned against each other.
If you are either a Cruz or Trump supporter, you are a winner period.
I’ve predicted that Trump will solidify in the 35% to 40% range and Cruz will settle in 15% to 20% to make for a Trump-Cruz ticket that will oust the establishment.
The thing is, is to not to allow the establishment to turn the Trump and Cruz supporters against each other.
I am sure this poll lead came and went today with Trump’s call for halt to Muslim immigration and Cruz joking GOPe and Hillary in saying No.
