Now I will say that CNN (so take it with a YUGE grain of salt) is reporting that Trump is also calling for hte surveillance of all mosques.
That IS a 1st Amendment issue if you are surveilling them without a warrant, or with a warrant based on less than actionable evidence.

I'm not so sure about that. No First Amendment rights would be violated by conducting surveillance of mosques which have been proven in some instances to be centers for the recruitment and indoctrination of Muslims for terrorist purposes. If a cop on the beat happens to be in the area of a mosque, that isn't a First Amendment issue. They're just doing their jobs, patrolling an area which has reportedly been a potential high crime area. Neighborhood Watch groups could help out, to make sure their Muslim 'neighbors' arrive and depart from their mosques safely.

It's the neighborly thing to do.
