End the Gun Epidemic in America (New York Times)
NY Times via MSN ^ | 12/04/15 | THE EDITORIAL BOARD

**SNIP**

It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency. These are weapons of war, barely modified and deliberately marketed as tools of macho vigilantism and even insurrection. America's elected leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on weapons of mass killing, as they did on Thursday. They distract us with arguments about the word terrorism. Let's be clear: These spree killings are all, in their own ways, acts of terrorism.

**SNIP**

Certain kinds of weapons, like the slightly modified combat rifles used in California, and certain kinds of ammunition, must be outlawed for civilian ownership. It is possible to define those guns in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens.

Read an article that they’re in negotiations with Bass Pro. So, maybe the store will continue to operate, just under a different name. Hope so.

Rather than restrict firearms ownership, I want a federal tax deduction from the government that would encourage and assist every law abiding citizen in the country in the purchase of a firearm. Every capable, law abiding citizen should be carrying considering the crazies that are out there in epidemic numbers.

These are weapons of war... and even insurrection. Funny how the left likes even loves and applauds insurrection when it is done in Ferguson Missouri or in Baltimore Maryland but hates insurrection in the abstract when it is invoked on behalf of liberty.

Despite the unhappy result for insurrectionists at Appomattox, the Second Amendment exists to intimidate the government into good behavior and, yes, to be used to shoot the government in extreme instances of bad behavior. My right to bear arms does not turn on my need to defend myself against a home intruder, a mugger on the street, or even a crazed Muslim terrorists in my place of work, my Second Amendment rights come to me, like all of my essential rights, from God, and are not subject to be withdrawn by an entity which did not in the first place grant them. This right is ultimately available to me to defend liberty.

The same government that wants to destroy the First Amendment by prosecuting speech concerning Muslims wants to destroy the Second Amendment. The two must be seen to be linked. I have the right of free speech to advocate my Second Amendment rights and I have my Second Amendment rights to intimidate the government into refraining from censoring speech, contrary to the First Amendment. One is indispensable to the other.

Thanks, Randall.

On the gun it says ‘Titan Tiger, Cal 38 SPL, Miami Fla’ and
‘READ WARNINGS BEFORE USING THIS GUN’ (I have ‘warnings’ or any papers on it)

It’s a nasty looking thing.

I’m kind of afraid to take it to a gun shop or whatever.
I don’t have a permit for it or any idea where it originally came from.

I’ll try to take a picture of it and post it.

Since the pen is mightier than the sword, we should make it harder for people to get pens.

"The money quote. Insurrection is what they REALLY fear. As long as we common peasants have weapons, they know they can never totally control us. These bastards at the NY Times are modern day Bolsheviks, the members of the proletariat nomenklatura who want to crush anyone who disagrees with there communist ideology."

"Almost" 100% on. See above revision.

Go down to the nearest gun store and ask for help. I’m sure they can recommend an instructor (and sell you the needed cleaning kit and materials). You might also check out on-line videos for generic cleaning instructions, and perhaps even for your specific make/model.

A quick check of Youtube with the AR-15 as “the gun to be cleaned” turns up several videos.

Is your handgun a revolver or a semi-auto??

Today, the left does not want us to be able to protect ourselves. On another day, they will be arguing against the police being able to protect us, and another, against the military’s being capable of defending us. What other conclusion can one make but that the left does not want us to be protected?

The rational: They do not think the West has any moral legitimacy worth defending.

One should never mistake stupidity for malice, but they are not mutually exclusive. One can be maliciously stupid, or stupidly malicious.

No thanks, I do not want to be owned by my government, or put in danger by the evil people democrats are importing or riling up to kill us.
