About 15 per cent of the city’s black infant deaths are the result of unsafe sleeping conditions: placing the baby stomach down, using loose blankets rather than a secure sheet, and letting the baby share a bed with his or her parents. This, in theory, is very fixable stuff, and the mayor and his partners have been trying.

My parents were afraid of crib death so I slept in the same bed with them. A lot of these deaths are due to child abuse that was covered up or ignored.
Yes. I have never heard a Hispanic woman whine about her kids. They seem much happier and affectionate with their children. Probably because they are much happier with their men than white or black women
You’re right; I work with many Latinas (from various countries), and they seem to enjoy parenting much more than other groups. Don’t know about the link to the man issues, but certainly worth considering; perhaps the clearly-defined roles in Hispanic homes actually does lead to more contentment (despite the lib war against traditional women).
I recalled the factoid about the Hispanic infant mortality rate from a decade ago (where in spite of poverty it was at the white level), but looking into it again it seems that there has since grown quite a literature (academic papers) in Public Health trying to explain the discrepancy vis Black rates, not only in infant mortality but in ALL health statistics, general mortality, etc. And there are breakdowns by country of origin too. Cubans in the US have a ridiculously low infant mortality rate, 3/100 vs 5.2/1000 for non Hispanic whites. Even Mexicans are at 4.9/1000. Puerto Ricans drive up the Hispanic rate.

Smothering deaths of black babies are rampant here in Milwaukee. Happen to live here, its been going on here for years. Same mo. Fat black eoman falls asleep with baby and smothers it. Most of the time drunk and/or on drugs.
Comparable to Gaza means a much lower infant mortality rate that in sub-Saharan Africa.
