She's one of those East Coast "economic conservatives" who can slice and dice budget issues and Paul Krugman vomitorials with the best of them, but absolutely hates Sarah Palin, border watchers, and social conservatives generally and reviles them all as Kluxers and cave men. Or, in Palin's case, a moosicidal know-nothing and illiterate from Nowheresville: Frances McDormand's character without the rustic charm and Democrat-Farmer-Labor merit badges for good intentions.
Someone analyzed Rubin's issue stands and found she is 53% conservative. She's with you on budget and debt issues, but let immigration or black racism be the issue, and she'll shank you faster than a cellblock enforcer.
Since she's Jewish, I guess that qualifies her in some people's definition of "Neoconservative" (since so many of the first "Neocons" were illuminated Jewish Trotskyites who discovered the consolations of living behind the defenses of John Foster Dulles's NATO and SEATO protected by Curtis LeMay's fleets of B-47's and B-52's), never mind that probably the biggest "Neocon" alive is Dick Cheney.
