Maybe, but I doubt it. Rubio’s at 17 percent. Definitely shouting distance of Trump. Once they figure out how to hobble or kill Trump, he’ll be there to take up the slack.
At this point, they’re arriving at the political fact that he’s too smart to take himself out. If they had the goods on him, they’d have used it by now.
As such, its going to take a physical threat, or an assassination. Unlike a lot of politicians, Trump is unique. Rarely has that much money, that much skill with communications, and an electorate who is convinced the two-party system has failed happened at the same time. He can’t be bought or bullied.
He’s the one guy you could whack and the blowback is worth it because even Cruz off the bench doesn’t have what Trump has. Cruz HAS to take money from people to win. Trump doesn’t. CNN is likely considering very seriously paying the $5M if that’s what it takes.
If Trump DOESN’T do the debate, and the numbers do fall, then there are so many losers that can’t afford to lose that standoff.
The internals vs Trump that the D’s have are likely petrifying, and the R’s don’t want it either, outside Jeff Sessions, and likely just Jeff Sessions.
Somebody from an ethnic group will be hired to take him out and the reason is because of Trump’s racism. The press will jump on and say, “It’s sad, but you reap what you sew.”
Then it will be like the last scene in Chinatown, and conservatives will end up being carried off by Hollis Mulwray and we’ll end up with Bush or Christie. Like Christie, since Bush can’t undo his “I’m running for the presidency of North Mexico rhetoric.”
Someone is going to either attempt, or succeed, at killing Donald Trump. I think both parties are that scared of him.
