Reagan had widespread recognition because of movies and TV besides being President of the Screen Actor’s Guild and twice governor of California. I’d say regarding the times of each man that they probably had about the same “leg up” when it comes to name recognition. IMHO

The thousands of Muslims thing is a gift to Trump. Everyone knows what he meant...there WERE thousands if not 10’s of thousands of Muslims celebrating 9/11 in the US and more around the world. People recognize they were going after Trump for something really stupid and petty and we’re trying to imply that there were huge celebrations in the US. But everyone KNOWS they were celebrating. The fact that the stupid pundits and press focus on what Trump said INSTEAD of acknowledging the reality of Islamic terrorism is driving up his numbers.

I would tend to think the folks who regularly consume pro-wrestling and reality TV in the last 20 years are probably less politically savvy than the folks who where aware of the acting career of Reagan. Reagan’s acting career ended in 1965. Trump was on WWE in 2013. But you could be right, I just would tend to think he has a huge advantage among a certain set, considering the increase of mass media in the last 20 years or so.

I’m just saying the democrats on my work crew were ticked off when Trump dissed McCain’s war record, and these are the kinds of democrats most likely to switch sides — but they won’t for Trump, not after that. And there are a couple of guys from El Salvador who’d go for Rubio or Bush, but Trump? Not in five lifetimes.
