I remember Stern's coverage of the events during and after 9/11 as excellent. His entire 4+ hour show became a 'news' segment.

I recall him saying in response to criticism that the video images of the towers coming down was "too disturbing" that they should be played on tv every day forever.

In 2002 I heard a rebroadcast of Stern’s show from the year before. It was fantastic.
