Has the Cruz Campaign Alienated Endorsement Target Tim Huelskamp?
National Review ^ | November 30, 2015 | ELAINA PLOTT & ALEXIS LEVINSON

On November 18, as Ted Cruz pitched his candidacy to select congressional Republicans in the main dining room of the Capitol Hill Club, he faced an uncomfortable question from Representative Paul Gosar. Why, Gosar asked, was the consulting firm owned by Cruz’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe, working to unseat fellow Freedom Caucus member Tim Huelskamp, a congressman the Cruz campaign is trying to woo?

Axiom Strategies, the Kansas City consulting firm founded by Roe, has long been involved with super PACs seeking to oust Huelskamp from his seat in Kansas’s first district. In 2014, Axiom consulted for the “Now or Never” super PAC, which went to great lengths to paint Huelskamp as an unlikeable, ineffective leader. This cycle, Huelskamp is more vulnerable than ever — he has the same weaknesses, and the forces trying to oust him are more organized. Some are wondering if Axiom will double down on its efforts to defeat him.

If there is any truth to this, Sen. Cruz had best address it.

Huleskamp is very good. I want to know the answer to this, too.

Okay I see. I think the guy goes with whoever pays him. Just a guess. He is for Cruz and focused on no other races. Huleskamp is NOT weak, like the article suggests. He is very articulate and a solid conservative. People get mad at one issue and then they lie about everything else. It is always a fight. I don’t think this is Cruz’s fault. He endorsed Huleskamp in the past and Huleskamp should go by that.

Yes,and Axiom says and - I have no reason whatsoever to disbelieve them - that they are completely uninvolved in Huleskamp’s race this go around.

Axiom needs to disavow any future involvement just to clear the air. Cruz should insist on it.

If I were Cruz, I would watch my back.

Glad to hear that Huelskamp’s opponent will be throwing away all his money on Axiom. My estimation of Cruz just dropped a few notches, and his conservative credentials are baloney if he’s not supporting Huelskamp.

The consulting firm will work for whoever hires it. Cruz is one customer and Huelskamp’s opponents are another. Ted Cruz can’t tell them who to work for.

They did disavow any future involvement. Whether they mean it is another story. It may simply be that they work for whoever hires them. If I were Cruz I would watch my back them, just in case.

I like everything about Cruz, pretty much, except one thing that SCARES me: I find him so unappealing in sound and appearance that I can’t watch him. And...and...and...that nasal voice. That scares me because it makes me wonder whether he’s electable. How many other people will get sick of the greasy hair and...and...and...that piercing nasal voice?
