Without the Iraq war, Islamic State wouldn't exist today, former US special forces chief Mike Flynn openly admits. In an interview, he explains IS' rise to become a professional force and how the Americans allowed its future leader to slip out of their hands. [...]
'There were all kinds of strategic and tactical warnings and lots of reporting. And even the guys in the Islamic State said that they were going to attack overseas. I just don't think people took them seriously. When I first heard about the recent attacks in Paris, I was like, "Oh, my God, these guys are at it again, and we're not paying attention."' [...]
'We were too dumb. We didn't understand who we had there at that moment. When 9/11 occurred, all the emotions took over, and our response was, "Where did those bastards come from? Let's go kill them. Let's go get them." Instead of asking why they attacked us, we asked where they came from. Then we strategically marched in the wrong direction.' ...

If you’re going to topple dictators, you better have a plan.
Speak for yourself, jackass. None of us at FR were ever deluded, anytime, by the depths of evil that the muzzies could perpetrate.
It wasn’t George Bush who demanded that we topple Momar Gaddafi, that was Sid Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton and then from Barack Obama.
It wasn’t George Bush who demanded that we topple Hosni Mubarak.
It wasn’t George Bush calling for the deposing of Assad.
It’s the Muslim Brotherhood calling the shots and they aren’t our friend.
Instead of asking why they attacked us

Here’s a clue from John Quincy Adams
In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.
Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).
Of course we asked who they were. Why they attacked us was clear enough. They are hateful, jealous, greedy, envious, barbaric, lunatics. We need to go find them and kill them. They problem is that we left the area unable to protect itself and so the lunatics too advantage.
I kinda agree with him.
We should have replaced Saddam Hussein with a ‘Bastard’ loyal to us. There is no way we should have tried to introduce representative democracy into Iraq. The Iraqis simply were not capable of self government - they need to ruled.
Open your ears!
Exactly right.
Bush was right to topple Saddam.
Our exit is what causes ISIS. That vacuum allowed ISIS to congeal— especially once the Sunnis could see that we would not enforce any measure of fairness by Iranian puppet Maliki.
We still have more than 10,000 US soldiers in South Korea. We still have hundreds in Japan. Those wars cost exponentially more lives than Iraq but somehow— we still have not come home from our “defeats.”
We never lost Iraq or Vietnam for that matter. We have an internal set of traitors who continuously cheer for the other side by bemoaning how we ‘kill innocent people’ and create ‘new terrorists.’ That was not our paradigm in Korea or Japan.
If we were still in Iraq, we would have much better options that we do presently.
A fair government of shia and sunni leadership in Iraq would accommodate the crisis in Syria— creating a safe haven.
President Bush warned repeatedly in 2007 that this is what would happen if we followed Obama’s foolish premise.
He was right..
yet there are people on FR who will fight tooth and nail against the Iraq war and take the same anti-Bush positions as any number of anti American reactionaries.
We have been fighting Islamic radicals since Jefferson launched the marines against Tripoli. The fantasy is that there is some peace to be had with Arab Islamic supremacism.
We can show them we are deadly serious and they keep their distance. Or we can play pacifism games and they will grow ever more defiantly terroristic here at home and abroad.
Rand Paul’s world of isolationism has never ever existed in US history. It is a pure fantasy. If we were honest, we would admit it for the anti-semitic fantasy that it is.
It is simply a matter of time waiting for the next attack here.
As long as we have a political party that believes that Republicans are the supreme human enemy and not ISIS, we will have serious problems winning this constant war.
Invasion of Europe news….
We mentioned recently that it appears from some photos that the invaders of Europe are mostly fighting age young men.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees does not tell us their ages, but does tell us that 75% are men. (Germans hide your daughters!)
Only 51% are Syrians, the rest are from all over the Middle East and Africa.
So, did the men abandon their women and children back home (in an unsafe country)?
Yea, and these dumbass government jerks know far more than us stupid civilians? Want to bet Barry’s goons have got to this guy?
Not the whole story. It took the Iraq war and the abandonment of Iraq before it was stable....
I don’t buy this for one minute!
Yeah, unlike Americans, who responsibly used their powers of self-government to elect Clinton and Obama - twice each.
Well said. Totally true. Have a beer, send me the bill.
The dead ones didn’t use theirs by themselves.
Well, that inspires me to trust the Feds. /s
when they dead = no terror
remove their dan from the planet
identify and kill entire gene pool....
end of problem
you pussy foot around
you get what we have today
killem all
let god sort them out
One more to add to your list.
It was not George Bush who was transferring arms from Benghazi to the rebels in Syria with no doubt some arms going to ISIS.
