Since November 13th and indeed the terror attacks of January Place de la Republique in Paris has become the focal point for locals to show their unity and solidarity.
The Marianne statue at the centre of the square has also become a makeshift memorial, with mourners leaving bouquets, candles and other objects in memory of the victims.
On Sunday, demonstrators left an estimated 10,000 pairs of shoes beneath the statue and across the square (see picture below).
But on Sunday the square became the centre of violent clashes between French police and extreme left-wing groups on the eve of the COP21 conference.

Well, according to the lyin’ king, they were on point. The small number of victims in the 11/13 assault was nothing compared to the actual real threat to the erf and rising oceans and ‘See Uh Oh Two’ overload. Oh the huge manatee.
Obama and his hoax of Climate Change are completely responsible for this type of outrage and destructive behavior. I am sure he is happy about it too, unfortunately.
What the h*ll is this 3rd world process? This never happened in Europe when I was a young man. People went to churches and lit candles, not make a garbage dump "memorial" on the streets. God, I despise these demonstrations.

I remember driving past and down the National Mall on January 21 2009 as work crews valiantly struggled to remove the 150 tons of garbage left by revellers at Obama’s first inauguration.
Only later did I read the stories about how those leftist revellers had marched through and utterly destroyed the Smithsonisn’s gardens. Which had been lovingly created and maintained by dedicated staff and volunteers over the course of a couple decades.
Iirc the “Occupy”ers did exactly the same thing with the various spaces they claimed for their encampments.
