WINNIPEG â The Edmonton Eskimos have won their first CFL championship title since 2005 by beating the Ottawa RedBlacks 26-20 in the 103rd Grey Cup presented by Shaw.
Edmonton took a six-point lead with less than four minutes left in the game as Jordan Lynch broke into the endzone with a one-yard quarterback sneak. The Eskimos added a two-point convert following the touchdown.
The RedBlacks sat in front 19-18 following three quarters of play thanks to a 33-yard Chris Milo field goal.

My theory is that Red Blacks is an homage to the RCMP, the classic Mountie with the red tunic and black jodhpurs.
I tried out my theory on a recent fishing trip to Saskatchewan and the natives were underwhelmed
There was a famous Canadian army unit known as the Red Blacks during WWI and WWII. With Ottawa being the nation’s capital it fits. Lame, but it fits.
