He could have pushed for a change in the law that would allow for the exportation of more domestic oil products, but he decided not to.

The fact is that this incident, along with the last seven years, shows just how important a strong American President is to the safety of the World and its'people. Now Putin sees it is open season and the half century drought of Russian influence in the Middle East is over. He has been given a green light to reenter the region all but unopposed and he is doing so through Iran, Syria and head butting anyone that gets in his way.
Now the entire World can see it is open season on territory and power grabs while Obama searches for a legacy in green technology and failing domestic and foreign affairs.
