Ret. Lt. Gen. McInerney doesen’t agree with you and he oversaw hundreds if not thousands of airspace violations by the Russians.

Good video:

They do it all the time. And sometimes the other country gets sick of it and shoots them down. And MOST national leaders who get a plane shot down that way realize they were doing a bad thing and eventually you have to pay for that. We didn’t threaten the Soviet Union when they shot down Powers because we knew we were violating their air space.

And the fact that Putin has been reduced to “economic sanctions” shows he’s wrong. Even Putin has figured out that Turkey was in the right, it is after all THEIR AIR SPACE.

Don’t bother yourself with facts by watching at least some of McInerney’s point of view. sheesh

The facts are in. Putin backed down. He was violating Turkey’s air space daring them to do something about it. So they shot down his plane and dared him to do something about it. And Putin went “economic sanctions”.

Yep. The Turks are trying to play us. Meanwhile they support ISIS and attack the Kurds.

So is Turkey, so Russia has every right to bomb them back, let alone crossing over a small protrusion of Turkish territory.

Shoot them down over your airspace yes, bomb them back not as much. Of course if you do give them the right to bomb Turkey then that just INCREASES Turkey’s right to shoot Russian planes in their airspace down, since they could after all be bombing them.

What we have here is a very typical mid-eastern situation. All the sides are scumbags, all of them are bad guys, all of them deserve to get shot.

So... do you think no one has ever done that before ?

LOL--FR, which used to be a fantastic source to find any information about the military, has now become a fount for excuses.

My concern is Turkey has created this mess and helped drag us in, and now are trying to escalate it. I’m for getting out and letting Putin and Assad go after all the jihadists. As for Turkey, we should have kicked them out of NATO and pulled our forces out of there a long time ago. Tell them if they want to fight Russia they are on their own.

Turkey didn’t create this mess. They certainly contributed. But remember WE picked sides in Syria first, knowing that it was a fight between Ambassador rapists and insurgent backers we decided to step in that mess. Then ISIS came in with their backing from Turkey and the House of Saud. Then Putin the situation wasn’t CFed enough and stepped in. And now Turkey is taking a more active roll. But we decided that poo pile looked fun to step in first, and now we’re complaining the carpet smells.

I wasn’t making an excuse.

I was just responding to the claim that NO ONE EVER does that by asking a simple question.

Well, sounds like we agree a lot more than we disagree. I do recommend watching that clip linked in post 21 if you haven’t. I hadn’t seen the track of the Russian plane before. There’s a small sliver or Turkish territory that extends into Syria, and the plane was flying across it from one part of Syria to another. It wasn’t heading toward the main part of Turkey, and was heading south away from it when it was shot down. Normal procedure would be a minor diplomatic protest, not shooting it down.

They do it all the time.

Make up your mind. You said NO ONE EVER does it, now you say they do it all the time.

If you had said that many countries do it and it depends on the exact situation as to whether the country they fly over reacts, that would make more sense.

P.S. After you said they do it all the time, you did go on to say basically what I mentioned you should say.

So... I should have said, “you should have said that first/or instead”.

: )

Putin’s not a bad guy. Don’t belittle him or underestimate him. He’s very good for Russia and he shows himself to be a world leader by handling this tragedy in a restrained manner.

You should explain to the Ukraine how Putin isn’t a bad guy. If there’s somebody underestimating him it’s you. He’s in Syria for a spot for a military base and better flow for his oil, that’s it.
