pepsionice, think about this - the (formerly East-) German Merkel wants all these new “immigrants” to help bolster Germany’s falling birth-rate so she has the borders opened to welcome all these new young industrious people into the state. You are right, there is no testing and no medical screening process to segregate people infected with any disease - Merkel just wants them to get to Germany. As soon as these people get to Germany they start sucking on the government tit, making use of services provided by the state, and breaking the laws of their new home state because they never bothered to learn about the laws of Germany before they left Syria (and Libya) ... they get rudimentary medical tests when they are processed through German jails and this is where the infectious diseases are detected ... just my $.02 thoughts ....
Merkel is just on an intellectual idea or white-paper with this strategy. If you took the next fifteen CDU members (her party)...less than half would volunteer to appear on some TV chat program to endorse the strategy (I’ve come to notice this over the past six months now as I watch a fair number of these forums).
The birth-rate thing is a serious problem. A major German university did a review last year figures by 2035...twenty years away...it’ll be near 65-million (80-million population for today). If they do nothing, they’ve got a problem. Even under the social pension program, it’s a big mess in figuring out a fix without the refugees.
But if you were a 35-year-old refugee guy and arrive today....getting accepted, what exactly do you think you will get for a pension at age sixty-five? It’ll be three-quarters of what a German gets gets (who starts at age sixteen typically). Germans are already bitterly hostile about the meager pension deal they get. What happens in twenty-five years when the immigrants-turned-German will say when they don’t get a full pension? Disgruntled Germans? Oh my.
