San Diego’s North County Coastal, where this all takes place, is one of the most wonderful places in the country, not just for its beauty, but for wonderful people like Matthew Jackson. Rest in peace, faithful follower of Christ.
Your odds of surviving after hitting a tree with your Fiesta are poor. A bigger car and an airbag would increase your chances.

I paid it forward in around 1995. I worked an evening shift and ate at the same diner daily for a couple of months. One evening they put me in a booth sitting with my back to a couple who were eating. I overheard the guy talking about what they could do after dinner, considering what was left over after paying for the meal, and that they might not have saved up enough for an evening out.
I finished before they did and picked up the tab for the couple’s dinner and left the diner. I like to think it made for a nice date for them.

I would definitely settle for a dent in exchange for some broken bones or worse. I think we have all had incidents in which we weren’t harmed because of the grace of a few inches or seconds. And thankful!
