I carry one of two .357s, a Ruger SP101 3”-5 with Hornaday Custom 125gr JHP/XTP or a S&W 686 6”-6 with Hornaday Custom 158gr JHP/XTP. Both have oversized checkered wood combat grips.
I am partial to a S&W model 19-4 with target grips, and shoot 158 grain loads for practizing, but 125 grain for defense. I also like the S&W model 28-2, it’s got the 6 inch barrel and the big target grips, eats recoil with magnum loads. I have a 686 and like it but I usually go back to the model 19 or 28.
