A few days ago, Turkish F16-jets shut down a Russian jet. Ever since, tensions between Turkey and Russia have been on the rise.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly threatened Turkey, and has taken action against Turkish citizens inside Russia. Some construction companies owned by Turks have been raided, trucks delivering flowers have been sent back at the border, and the Russian government has warned Turkish food producers that their goods may no longer be welcome in Russia.
At the same time, Putin has spoken out against Turkey's Islamist ruler, President Erdogan, by accusing him of supporting terrorism. The Russian president said in a joint press conference with French President Francois Hollande yesterday that Turkey has supported all kinds of Islamist groups in Syria, ISIS being one of them.
President Erdogan has now shot back. He warns Putin not to "play with fire," adding that Putin and Assad, not Turkey, are supporting ISIS:
"Putin says âthose who have double standards on terrorism are playing with fire.â I totally agree with him. Indeed, supporting the [Bashar] al-Assad regime in Syria, which has killed 380,000 people, is playing with fire. Striking opposition groups that have international legitimacy with the excuse of fighting against Daesh [an acronym of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, ISIL] is playing with fire. Using an incident in which Turkeyâs righteousness is accepted by the whole world as an excuse to torment our citizens who were in Russia to attend a fair is playing with fire. Irresponsibly hitting trucks in the region that are there for trade or humanitarian reasons is playing with fire. We sincerely advise Russia not to play with fire." He went on to say that the United States has documented the oil trade between ISIS, Russia and the Syrian regime.

Dear President Putin,
You are a monster. However, sometimes it takes a monster to fight a worse monster, and Erdogan is a worse monster.
Unfortunately, Obama (not worthy of the title “President”) is a useless sack of feces who sympathizes with ISIS. Please don’t count on him for help. He’s also a colossal wimp, so don’t worry about him, either.
Please get to it.
Regards,

I’m pretty sure that Obama does recognize that fact — and SUPPORTS it...
If Turkey is shown to have supported the very jihadis against which other NATO members are at war — then Turkey has forfeited any claim it might have had for support from NATO against Russia.
“Anyone familiar with how Turks perform in battle know that they are some of the fiercest soldiers in the world. The Russians want no part of them.”
Laughable. The only countries that could stand up to Russia are the US, Germany, and China.
While Obama may want the US to do so, I doubt our military would follow those orders.
Germany and China have no dog in this fight.
Putin is not the one playing with fire here.
The US supported the Afghanis in that war. Without US support, the Afghanis would have been run over...
If by “toughest soldier” you mean at raping boy captives etc, yes, they are.
I will bet you 10 to 1 that the Russians can dispatch of the Islamohomos in 1 year assuming NATO stays out
Not that I have any special knowledge but one year seems a very generous over/under, at least if these Russians are anything like their grandfathers...
Three months and raise your bet. If it goes “nucular”, what, three hours?
As an aside, Churchill was shunned in England until Hitler's "surprise" false flag attack on Poland proved his analysis correct. He would get the same treatment in the US today.
Laughable? Tell that to the family of the dead Russian pilot? Turkey called in the Russian Ambassador twice in two consecutive days before shooting down the plane warning the Russians to stop violating their airspace. Then they shot the plane down.
Yes, laughable. In a stand-up fight, the Russians would shred the Turks unless the US stepped in. It would not even be a contest.
Shooting down one plane is not even close to what would happen if Russia decided to drop the hammer.
Now could the US intervene and stop the Russians? Sure, if our generals were stupid enough to follow Obama’s orders to start WWIII with Russia. But they aren’t. Or at least I pray they aren’t...
Oh, and I am not saying what happened to the Russian pilot and his family is laughable. I’m saying that the idea Turkey on its own could stand up to Russia is laughable.
Well stated as usual, Navy Patriot...
Russia has negative population growth with a fertility rate of 1.61, far below a replacement rate of 2.1. Males have a life expectancy of 64.7 years at birth. Alcoholism is rampant. Their life expectancy rate of 70.47 is 153rd in the world, lower than Bangladesh.
The Russian per capita income of $24,400 is 75th in the world. Turkey is 85th.
Russia is a gas station posing as a country. Russia is a major exporter of crude oil, petroleum products, and natural gas. Sales of these fuels accounted for 68% of Russia's total exports.
Might want to recheck current status of German forces. 60k total active uniformed Bundeswehr ain't gonna handle the migrant yout overload as desired by Merkel, much less Russian army. regards, C
LOL. Do you really think there is going to be a stand up fight? Are the Russians going to invade Turkey and risk nuclear war? How many casualties are they willing to suffer taking on NATO's second largest military force, one that has access to 40 nuclear weapons?
Whose side are you on? The KGB thug who invaded Ukraine and seized Crimea or NATO?
The idea that Russia is going to initiate military action against Turkey is laughable.
Yeah, I thought about that. The reality though is that if the Germans get ticked off, they are VERY good at mobilizing. They also have the largest industrial base in Europe.
In addition, the Germans don’t do the “hot rage” thing — they do systemic slaughter. I’m not just talking WWI and WWII. I’m referring to their overall history. If/when they get into that mode, the ONLY nations that have ever been able to back them down are the US and Russia. (Yes, the UK helped in WWII, and Churchill is a hero of mine, but without the US, the UK would have been crushed. We even had to supply them basic firearms.)
All that said, you are probably correct. I should not have included them.
