It isn’t just 20 somethings but into the 30-somethings.
I had confrontations with an HR manager that age who said you can’t say anything disrespectful, and her definition of disrespectful speech was anything non-PC.
So when they showcased a guy who left his wife and four kids under the age of 10 who gushed about how supportive the company was of him “coming out” and joining a new partner as “employee of the month”, I publicly stated that I felt sorry for his wife. I was challenged on the statement. I said four kids under ten have no idea what their father did except break up the family. I was told that was disrespectful, he doesn’t have a choice on his sexuality. I retorted that he clearly had enough control to make four kids in ten years, as well as choose to leave his wife after doing so - and that I’d prefer we didn’t celebrate adultery when there are contract wins, people earning MBAs, etc that should be supporting.
I was reprimanded by HR for that.

Then come the cases of the transgenders using the bathroom, taking over women’s meetings / gatherings, etc, and no one is allowed to counter it. As a female, I faced flack for filing a sexual harrassment charge on a man in a dress who thought it appropriate to corner me in a bathroom stall and lecture me on tolerance, as well as discuss bleeding neo-vaginas as an alternative to having your period for women and thus did understand my “pain”, not caring or deliberately discussing this while I tried to have lunch at my desk. What did the feminist graduate HR manager do? Oh, it is just a disagreement between two women, go have a “come to Jesus meeting”. The irony is painful. Only when I discussed the disgusting surgical details it would relay to me while I tried to eat at my desk to avoid it did they actually tell it to stop anything.

Their definition of respect is never disagreeing with the politcally correct line.
The definition of tolerance is wholesale endorsement or silence.
And those who have more politically protected check boxes in their profile are given more moral weight.
