Since 1976, there have been 10 caucuses. In three of them, there was no opposition, so we won't count those. Of the remaining seven, we have George W. Bush (2000), Bob Dole (1996) and Gerald Ford (1976) all getting the nomination after winning Iowa. That's 3 out of 7. In a fifteen man race, winning it is a good way to separate yourself from the pack.
