Some studies say that someone with perfect vision can make out human-sized objects at about 2 miles. The human form is uniquely identifiable by the visual processing centers of the brain, so that’s probably about the max.

PS Sorry, too busy to Google the studies, and this I off of memory, so may not be correct. Just my recollection.
