Turkey did invade Cyprus in 1974, they should have been kicked out of NATO for that.
I don’t think Turkey was a member of NATO then but I may be wrong. I don’t think Turkey should have ever been admitted to NATO in the first place.
It was a cold war ploy to align as many nations as possible against the Soviets. No one really thought the USSR was going to go away. Once it did, Turkey wasn’t exactly vital to the alliance and should have been cut out. It should still be cut out.
