Well he follows a great example. John Adams was thin-skinned too. He left Washington in the dead of night after losing his reelection to Thomas Jefferson. Eventually they became the best of friends.

The greatest leader this country ever had, George Washington was not thin skinned. And Lincoln was famous for NOT Being thin skinned. Neither of the above two gentleman were loud mouth, shoot from the hip braggarts like Donald Trump. They were both deep thinkers who carefully considered their options before acting.
