I’m thinking that at some point there was some kind of particle accelerator mishap at CERN or a Star Trekian spacetime rift that flung some people from the real world into this Spock’s Beard universe. Because it is a strange place where actions no longer have consequence, indeed.
the other possibility is the Apocalypse/Rapture happened and we are all actually in hell.
