ISIS can be defeated, but it will take much greater will on the part of President Obama, an exponentially more robust air campaign with more reasonable rules of engagement and Arab ground forces to get the job done, according to retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Tom McInerney.
McInerney spent 35 years in uniform and rose to the role of assistant vice chief of staff, the number three position in the Air Force. He also served as a combat pilot in Vietnam and as vice commander of U.S. Air Forces Europe. He said the first step is for Obama to admit the U.S. currently has no strategy.
"He doesn't have a strategy and that's why, 16 months after we started the air campaign, we're still at it," said McInerney, who compared America’s current policy of a few sorties a day to what was accomplished back in the Gulf War in 1991.
"Desert Storm was 600,000 troops against Saddam Hussein’s forces," he said. "We had a 43-day air campaign and a 100-hour ground campaign. I don't understand what the president's strategy is. I don't know what the president's purpose is. He just has not exhibited any desire to take ISIS out."

ISIS will be defeated. I cannot imagine anyone betting on ISIS. The people in ISiS are history’s losers. This is not a group of winners. The winners in life do not act like the people in ISIS. They will lose and be tossed into the garbage can of history.

Study Indonesia and how it came to be the most populated Muslim country in the world. Islam has had its cycles. Growth followed by being driven back to a corner in the M.E., time after time. We are witnessing exponential growth of Islam now that will be very hard, if not to impossible, to contain - and I don't think I'm overstating what I, and many others, see coming.
Benghazi was gun running weapons of mass destruction to the Sunni Muslims terrorists.
We need to hear a lot of this sort of talk and then it needs to lead to action.
I cannot predict whether we will continue to have nations that have an Islamic culture. Presumably, we will. My prediction is that ISIS is not pursuing a successful growth strategy. It will be defeated. The rest of the world is never going to tolerate or make peace with losers like these guys. I cannot figure out if they are just real stupid or if they are for some reason extremely desperate. But, I do not have to figure that out to know that they will fail.
If by talk you mean educate the world about the truth of Islam, I agree. As for action, that will come when enough people know the truth about Islam and are awake enough to stop turning a blind eye to it.
< Islam only exist through terror and intimidation, corrupt morals of those it seeks to subdue, blindness and ignorance of its victims, through stealth, and when good men and women do nothing to stop it, until it overwhelms a country or people through numbers of followers.
Keep in mind, there are many decent Muslims. Many have and will convert to Christianity and other religions. Some have paid for leaving Islam with their lives and the lives of their entire families.
One way or another, action will become unavoidable, as is the case in Europe. And sooner or later, it will be on our shores as well. Islam's goal is world domination as is plainly stated in its writings.
He could sortie at will. There is zero ISIS air resistance. Why anything in the area is still moving is a matter of will, not capability. Kurds or anybody else should be able to mop up afterwards. I think Putin has a strategy. Feckless ones priority appears to be alienate half+ of his own country and create more internal chaos.
Worry not—France and Russia will do the job and mete out tardy justice to ISIS. It will also forge a new allance between the two. Watch as Germany and England sign on late in the game. Obama should be replaced with an American.
