Haslam’s “popularity” is a mile wide and an inch deep, similar to his predecessor, Pharoah Phil Bredesen. He’s a leftist twat, to be sure, and the only thing that keeps him from implementing his leftist agenda (he badly wants to expand ZeroCare) is that the GOP supermajority won’t let him (a simple majority in the legislature overrides a veto). If he were allowed to do his worst and pursue his instincts, his approvals would be in the toilet.
For the record, I never voted for him either time he ran. I voted 3rd party in 2010 and left the office blank in 2014 in order to vote for a pro-life initiative on the ballot (as we were instructed to do).
