Politico reported earlier in the evening that a pro-Kasich super PAC was planning to unload $2.5 million or more to take down Trump, the Republican front-runner, in New Hampshire.
This prompted a dozen-tweet barrage by Trump against Kasich, ripping the PAC's attack as "pathetic" and calling the governor a "dud" over the report, among many other things.
*snip*
The super PAC, New Day for America, published a letter from The Trump Organization's lawyer warning that Trump would promptly seek "legal action" against the committee if its ads lied about Trump.
"It has come to my attention that you plan on producing and disseminating certain radio, television, and newspaper advertisements directly and personally attacking my client," Trump's lawyer, Alan Garten, wrote in the letter, which was also addressed to the Kasich campaign.
"Please be advised that in the event your ads contain any false, misleading, defamatory or otherwise tortious statements or representations concerning Mr. Trump's business or his brand, we will not hesitate to seek immediate legal action," it continued.
The letter concluded: "Please be guided accordingly."
The letter was similar in nature to a September cease-in-desist letter The Trump Organization sent to a conservative group, the Club for Growth, that ran attack ads against Trump in Iowa. Some eyebrows were raised because the letter was sent from Trump's corporation rather than from his campaign.

You have to wonder why someone with zero chance of getting the nomination is attacking the party front runner.
Ya think the republicans might want to take down someone in their own party? LOL
Not going to happen.
A couple of months ago Cruz said there’s no kind of secret alliance between the two of them. Ted’s in it to win.
Cruz wouldn’t attach himself to Trump. It would be too damaging for him.
I’m trying to clean my own house....
...so I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
From the firm of Duwe, Cheatum and Howe?
That, PalmettoMason, is the post of the week.
It also came out in the last debate.
I was pointing out that with supporters of Cruz, like you, that have the ‘vile’ comments you use to others are degrading to your candidate...
We Trump supporters realize this, that is why we don't use those types of terminology to express our support for our candidate because we think more of him than to do that...
YOU and YOUR mouth while using these ‘vile’ comments are putting your candidate in the gutter with remarks like you use....
GO TRUMP GO!!!
Quite Presidential by Democrat Don.
Yes I agree with you...when a ‘supporter’ uses these ‘vile’ remarks for your candidate puts them in the gutter...
Trump supporters are about that....
GO TRUMP GO!!!
Excuse me *above* thank you....
Kasich’s candidacy has reached room temperature. Why is Trump wasting his time on this?
I remember when Kasich was on Fox News as an ‘analyst’ or host, I guess. I couldn’t stand watching and listening to him then, and it’s worse now. I didn’t identify it as twitching, but I can see that now. I just thought he was weird, the way he talked, the way he moved.
Oh, look - two liberals (Trump & Kasich) in a slap fight.
You really think the country needs litigation between candidates injected into our politics?
Furthermore, if Katich's ad is anything like the Club for Growth ad that featured Donald is his own words advocating for universal health care, tax increases and eminent domain that Trump threatened to sue Club for Growth over, then it is certainly not libel and slander. And if the Donald wants to sue his opponents over words or actions that he has said then that is wrong and he is no friend for free speech.
Don’t speak for Ted Cruz unless you are part of him campaign staff.
Because Kasich is going after the Trade Mark Trump...which is illegal and can be sued...
Trump is a Registered Trade Mark with the Company that carries his name...
I think someone from the Kasich campaign gave the Trump campaign the ads and that is what has caused this...
Trump/Cruz 2016! I’ve donated twice to Cruz but hope he’s the VP choice if not the Presidential nominee.
However, I do cringe at the Trump supporters. You describe it accurately ... THE OTHER SIDE. If I am not completely 100% behind Trump, I am "the other side" (think Rove or worse). I find that severely lacking in truth, logic and conservatism even. It is the democRATs who engage in candidate idolization.
Besides, Ted Cruz is "not afraid to fight back", loves 'We The People', has our back, etc. Trump is not the ONLY one, and imho, not the best one. This thread is but one example of that.
