You seem to be arguing that Trump’s plan is better, and I am arguing that Cruz’s plan does reduced legal immigration.

Those are not mutually exclusive.

I am saying that the Cruz plan does not reduce legal immigration in any significant way. We will still take in 1.1 MILLION LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS A YEAR. Nor does the Cruz plan mention deportation of the 11 to 20 million already here. He has avoided the issue of amnesty, i.e., allowing the lawbreakers to stay and work here. If he still supports legalization as he has done in the past, this will increase legal immigration by not only those already here, but also, by allowing their families to join them thru chain migration, i.e., family reunification.

Trump has by far the better plan. It was written largely by Sessions' office. Cruz has seen how effective Trump has been with his immigration policy and he now tries to mimic it. You must be able to parse what Cruz has said to understand where the differences and deficiencies are. I have spent 9 years on this issue and can spot them. Still, I am glad that Cruz is moving in the right direction on immigration. He has had a Trumpiphany.
